Boudoir isn’t Scary, It’s Empowering, Beautiful and Amazing

Boudoir Definition: (boo-dwär) A woman’s bedroom or private room

So many women believe that a boudoir photography session instantly means they need to rush out and buy the absolute sexiest lingerie right off the rack! Don’t get me wrong, if you’ve booked your session and feel compelled and comfortable to do that, by all means, we will have a fantastic time! However, there is also a large market of women, in many age groups that immediately feel like they shouldn’t book a session because they are NOT so comfortable with that particular idea.

Let me just say, that with the definition of boudoir, it is simply a private photography session. An intimate session. You are letting a photographer through the doors of the most private and personal area available to you. What might you do in that area? Dress for your special someone (of course), relax, dress for an event close to your own heart…and the list goes on.

My point is that your own boudoir isn’t JUST about getting into your skivvies and having your picture made. It is about revelling in this very moment in time, looking and feeling your absolute best! Whether in a bra and panty set, a corset, a tutu, your most amazing dress you haven’t been able to wear out somewhere yet, or jeans and a white button down, it all comes down to you feeling amazing and documenting that connection you have with YOURSELF. There is nothing more beautiful than a confident woman, period. You decide what you wear. Don’t worry, I’ll be there for you. We’ll take some wonderful images. You can keep them for yourself or gift them to your special someone. It is about time you did something just for you isn’t it?

Professional Beauty Portraits in Asheville

Sometimes, just sometimes everything in life happens at once. Our struggles and victories all seem to converge on us at the same time reminding us that life IS in the little things. That our home-life, our work and our play all get jumbled around in our little bubbles of existence…thus bringing us to a moment where we might just need a little reminder of how beautiful we are, how amazing and how maybe we should just document that time in our lives.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Tiziana. Some of you may know her as she is a well known stylist about town here in Asheville. She is also a graphic novel author and singer. As of November 1st, you can find her at Aubergine Salon in downtown Asheville.

Also, I am offering $50 off for the first five clients to book during November 1-7th. Do you need new portraits?

Erica & Chris {Mills River Wedding}

One Miss Rachel Archer was kind enough to have me come and 2nd shoot for a local wedding she had yesterday, so I thought I would just post a little sneaky peek of my edits from the event. The wedding was at the Unity Church in Mills River (just between Asheville and Hendersonville NC). Just far enough out to capture some beautiful mountain ridge line landscapes as a beautiful backdrop!

Thank you so much Rachel for having me out with you! And Erica and Chris…Congratulations! Your wedding was wonderful!!!

Free Beauty Appointments for Cancer Survivors!

Ooooh what a great way to start my Monday!!! I have made a wonderful connection here in Asheville and just have to share it! I have met one Ms. Katie Fisher, a stylist from Aubergine Salon in downtown Asheville. We connected via a group on the one and only facebook and she was reaching out to run a promotion for pampering sessions with breast cancer survivors. I immediately reached out to see if we might team up!

If you have read the Studio 828 Pay it Forward campaign, you already know that I offer free mini portrait sessions to cancer survivors so why not team up with another member of the community to really make a difference?! I can’t think of a reason not too. At any rate, we met up this morning at a great local coffee shop, The Dripolator (one of my faves!) to iron out the details.

“What are the deets, Cat?”

So glad you asked!!! We are offering beauty appointments with a haircut and makeup application alongside a free mini portrait session on Mondays. Originally we had discussed booking these appointments during the month of October (breast cancer awareness month) but after talking decided that we should just make it a Monday thing! Sure, October needs the recognition to help bring that awareness to every community but that certainly doesn’t mean that those recovering in March shouldn’t have the same opportunity to feel great about themselves!

So, if you are interested or know of someone who is a survivor and could really use a boost to remind them of how they really are amazing, get in touch!!!

The Lovely Brooke

We thought it would be nice on this incredible Autumn afternoon to wander around the NC Arboretum and capture some pretty. I teamed up with one Rachel Archer of Rachel Archer Photography who happened to already have a great relationship with Brooke as a model! What’s that? Can you say Senior pictures? OK! I’d love too!

I had a lot of fun editing Brooke’s images (as you can see). I have been testing out different editing techniques (as my editing tends to fall into the style of the 3rd image down) as senior styles change from year to year. Again, too much fun with you ladies. Brooke, you made it easy!!!

Asheville Aerial Arts

So, for some time I have been wanting to connect with these young women. I finally had an opportunity this evening to attend one of their weekly rehearsals. Let me just say, yoga aint got nothin on these ladies!!!

I’ll let the images speak for themselves…
