Anita and Brittani are two of my favorite people! The love these two share for one another, holy crimeny! They have this wonderful relationship both as mother and daughter and as best friends!
They came to me to celebrate that relationship and to be a part of our portrait book, “Mothers, Daughters, Sisters” and I couldn’t be happier! I adored having you in the studio, ladies!
Let me ask you a question, when was the last time you had professional portraits taken with your Mother? With your sisters? With your daughters?
No, I don’t mean iPhone snaps from a family dinner that someone posted on Facebook, I mean real portraits. Do you exist in photos with your children? What pictures do you have of and with your parents? Your grandparents?
About ten years ago, my mom and grandmother and I even went to a big box store just to have an image taken of the 3 of us. (I swear this was before my career…don’t tell) This picture is soooo bad…and I love it. It is terrible. Sepia tone, white fuzzy border, gracious its awful. I love this picture because it is OF us, the three of us. Convincing took some coaxing for sure “Oh honey, let’s do it next time you’re here, I’ll work out more.” “Gosh! My hair is a mess”…and the list goes on. I don’t care. I am so glad that we had the opportunity to do it because now I have a framed print of, arguably two of the most influential women in my life. Two women I am proud to call family.
What would your answer be when I ask what are you getting Mom for Mother’s Day?
My personal recommendation is a makeover and photo shoot with Studio 828 Photography. Better yet, a girl’s day with you, your sisters, Mom and Aunt Sheila! I can promise your imagery will be quite the opposite of my experience with that big box store. 🙂 Don’t forget to take Mom our for dinner following your Asheville photo session with us. You will look fierce!

So, I know I’ve been promising it for a while now, but the time has finally arrived! I get to post the imagery from my very own photo shoot with my Mom! It was my Mother’s Day gift to her this year. We had a blast! Of course, it was pretty exciting to show her the new studio space and have a girl’s day. We don’t really get to do that all that often, well, ever really. I think I went with her when she had a hair appointment once but, it was only a million years ago.
She was a trooper! She mentioned during the getting ready phase, that she had never had her makeup done professionally before?? Luckily Wendy from Blush Asheville was on set to do her thing! While Mom may never get used to eyelashes (haha!) I think she looks great! Personally, I am thankful to have done this shoot with her. She does so much for the everyone else and it makes me happy to not only have done something nice FOR her but for us both to have some beautiful photos of just us.
